The Montgomery County School Board generally meets for a work session on the second Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. The regular board meeting is usually held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Please note the dates below for the regular board meetings scheduled for this year. Meetings are usually held in the auditorium of the MPS Central Office at 307 South Decatur Street. To confirm meeting dates or times please contact the MPS Communication Office, 334-223-6711. You may also sign up to be notified by E-mail of meeting dates and receive MPS media releases by clicking here.
The Board encourages the citizens of the community to appear before the Board and bring to it any matter deemed important to the improvement of the school district. Anyone with a comment on an agenda item may sign up just prior to the start of a regular board meeting or a scheduled public hearing. Comments by individuals must not exceed three minutes. Written comments will be accepted if the time limit for oral comments is not sufficient.
Citizens are also able to sign up in advance of a regular monthly scheduled meeting to be placed on the agenda under Community Comments. All delegations or individuals who wish to address the Board must submit their request to the Superintendent by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday preceding the next meeting date. Such requests shall specify the nature of the business to be taken up with the Board and the name of the individual who will address the Board. Delegations must choose a spokesperson and provide his/her name to the Superintendent. Five minutes will be allotted for an individual to address the Board when they send a request in this manner.
The Board’s presiding officer has the authority to terminate the remarks of any person when such remarks have as their objective a personal attack on any individual. Speakers are asked to refrain from calling the names of students and personnel.
